12. Determining Championship.
( A) Team rankings within the Competition will be decided by points,
with 3 points awarded for a win and 1 point awarded for a drawn match
The teams gaining the highest number of points in their respective Divisions
at the conclusion shall be adjudged the winners. Matches must not be played
for double points. No Club whose list of fixtures is not completed shall
be eligible for the Championship of any Division unless the Management
Committee shall decide otherwise.
In the event of two or more teams being equal on points, League position
shall be decided by the following method:
i) The team having the better goal difference
ii) If still equal, the team that has achieved the most goals scored.
iii) If still equal, the aggregate scores of the two League matches played
between the teams concerned during the season shall decide, with the team
having scored most goals in these games being placed highest
iv) If still equal, a deciding match, played under conditions laid down
by the Management Committee, shall be arranged if 1st or 2nd place, or
a relegation place, in any Division is involved.
(B) Automatic promotion and relegation shall be applied to the first two
and last two teams in each Division, except as provided for hereunder
and subject to the provisions of Rule 1b
i) The Championship Club of Division One may, provided they wish to be
promoted, make application to the Gloucestershire. Northern Senior League
for the following season. Entrance to this League will be dependent on
the Club satisfying the required standards of that League. On the second
successive season that the Champion Club declines or is refused entry
to the higher League, the position shall automatically be offered to the
runner-up, provided they have made application and meet the requirements.
ii) Any team withdrawing from a Division after 24 August shall be deemed
a relegated team.
iii) Additional vacancies, caused by the retirement of a team or by the
withdrawal of a Club from the Competition, shall be filled by election.
The last two teams in the lowest Division shall retire, but shall be eligible
for re-election, except as below.
iv) When a Senior team is relegated to a lower Division of which its reserve
team is a member, or entitled to be a member, such reserve team must accept
relegation to, or retain its position in, the next lower Division, and
should the Senior team be relegated to the bottom Division its reserve
team automatically retires from the Competition.
v) Should either or both of the leading teams in any of the Divisions
have its Senior team in the next higher Division, promotion shall fall,
at the discretion of the General Meeting, to the next highest team or
teams in the Division.
vi) If a relegated team from the Gloucestershire Northern Senior League,
or the Champion Club of the Cirencester League, is accepted into Division
One with no team being promoted or withdrawing from that Division, the
Division shall contain one additional team for the forthcoming season.
The following season where necessary three teams shall be relegated in
any Divisions to regularise the number of teams in each Division.
