2) Clubs Meeting in January

The next Cheltenham League Club's meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, January 30th, 2008 and will be held at the Victory Club, commencing at 7-15 pm. The purpose in holding these meetings is to ensure that, at least twice during the course of the season, there is an opportunity for the clubs to meet up with the officers of the league and discuss matters that are of concern, both to the League and to the clubs themselves. Attendance at these meetings is optional but is strongly recommended. Minutes will be produced from this meeting and circulated to all clubs but receiving the information imparted at these meetings in this way does not adequately substitute for being there and, naturally, does not afford the opportunity to ask questions.
In addition, this meeting will also see the distribution of League Membership forms for Season 2008-2009 and it would also seem to an ideal opportunity to return League Trophies won last season without incurring a fine - please see below!!
Will any person or club who has an item for inclusion on the agenda for this meeting please forward it to the League Secretary by Wednesday, 16th January 2008 at the latest.

3 League Trophies

Please note that the date prescribed by League Rule 18(b) by which all trophies, which were won last season, must be returned to the League, is January 31st. This is the day before the next club's meeting, as detailed above. If you have one of the League's trophies from last season, please make sure that you avoid the £15 fine which is incurred for transgressions of League Rule 18(b) and return the trophies on the evening of January 30th, or by the next day to the General Secretary at the very latest!

4 Transfers

Over the course of the last two months, the League has received a spate of transfers that have not been completed in accordance with League Rules. Please note that the procedure for transferring a player from one club to another is detailed in League Rule 8(K) and that strict adherence to the provisions of this rule must be applied when completing a transfer. In particular, no transfer can ever be considered to be successfully completed unless it has been confirmed by the League Registration Secretary and, once the transfer process has begun, the player involved must not play for any club, including the club with whom he was originally registered, until this confirmation is received. Additionally, it must be noted that the deadline for the submission of correctly completed transfer forms to the Registration Secretary is 12 noon on the date of the first match the player wishes to play for his new club, and even then confirmation that the transfer has been completed must be received from the Registration Secretary before the player takes part in the match that afternoon. Naturally, this means that it is not possible for a player to be considered to be eligible to play in a game just because his transfer form has been countersigned by an official of the opposition for that afternoon's game. The propensity to get the opposition to sign as a witness only applies to a player's original registration form, when he is registering with the League for the first time during the course of the season - it does not apply to transfers. Please note that in every instance this season, in which a player has played for a new club without confirmation having been received, before the match, from the Registration Secretary that his transfer has been completed correctly, the club to which the player is intending to transfer has always been charged with fielding an ineligible player, in violation of League Rule 8(q)
