1 Affiliation Numbers

All clubs are reminded that they must forward details of their GFA Affiliation Number to the League's General Secretary by August 31st at the latest. This affiliation number can be found on the receipt that the GFA will have issued to each club in acknowledgment of their completed "A" forms and, this season, this number is prefixed "EAN".

2 Club Accounts

Clubs are also reminded that they must send a copy of their accounts to the League Secretary in advance of their first fixture of the season.

3 Handbooks

The 2007-2008 handbook is currently being printed and should be available at the end of next week. One copy of the handbook per club will be posted to each Club's Secretary as soon as they become available. The remaining allocation of Handbooks will be distributed at the Clubs Meeting, which will be held at the Victory Club on September 26th. However, if your club requires their full allocation in advance of this date, please contact the League Secretary to arrange a mutually convenient time for the extra handbooks to be collected.
The League Website will be updated as soon as possible to reflect the details contained within the new handbook.

4 Result Cards

The League was unable to distribute Result Cards for the new season at the Annual General Meeting as these cards carry the Name & Address of the Registration Secretary and, following the resignation of Terry Onions, this was not known until the meeting itself. Now that Phil Tustain has assumed the duties of Registration Secretary, these cards can now be distributed and 6 cards per team, enough to last until the end of September, will be sent out to Club Secretaries along with the advanced copy of the handbook at the beginning of August. The rest of each club's allocation of cards will be available for collection at the club's meeting at the end of September.

5 Ground Directions

Directions to most grounds used in the League have now been entered on to Full Time and it would be enormously beneficial to all prospective visitors if all venues could have directions attached to them. At the moment, the grounds that are missing directions are as follows:- Bredon Playing Field, King George V Playing Fields (Northleach),
Priors Farm Playing Fields, Siddington Recreation Ground, St Peters Field, Swindon Village Playing Fields, Tewkesbury School, Winget (Tuffley Park) and Whitbread Sports Field. If your club uses any of these venues, please will you let the League Secretary have brief directions to the ground as soon as possible - a suggested starting point for these directions is the League's Headquarters at the Victory Club - along with a local post code, so that the directions, when entered into Full Time, can be further enhanced by the addition of a URL for a map indicating the area.
Finally, thanks to all those clubs who have already responded and made their contribution to a significant enhancement to the usefulness of Full Time.

6 Fixtures

All fixtures, both for all divisions of the League and the Charities Cup Competitions, can be viewed via the Cheltenham League section of the FA's Full Time facility. The League's Assistant Secretary, John Hunt, is responsible for the maintenance and administration of the fixtures throughout the season and all queries, acknowledgements and requests for amendments to fixtures should be directed to John in the first instance.

7 Players of Former Member Clubs

Please note that three clubs who terminated their membership of the League at the end of last season - namely Belmore Jags, Naunton Park and Tewkesbury YMCA - still owe substantial sums of money to the League. As a consequence, an embargo has been placed on the registration of all players who were associated with these clubs last season. This does not mean that the players cannot sign forms, just that the forms, when submitted to the League, will not be processed until the debts have been cleared. It should be noted that, during the course of the time that it takes for a particular club's debts to be cleared, if a player who was associated with that club last season signs forms relating to the new season for more than one new club, only the form that was completed first will be registered once the debt is paid off.

Any secretary who is in any doubt about the processes or rules that apply in this instance, or whether or not a player wishing to join their club for the new season, used to belong to any of the three clubs named at the beginning of the previous paragraph, should contact Phil Tustain, the registration secretary, in the first instance.

8 FA Flood Fund

Following the recent bad weather the trustees of the FA Sports Centre Trust have decided to operate a flood fund for those clubs affected, under the FA Discretionary Grant Aid Scheme.

The maximum grant available is £1000 per applicant for repairs and the replacement of kit following flood damage. Please note however that applicants must prove that the costs for which they are applying are not covered under their insurance policy, or if they are not insured, explain fully the reasons behind this.

Both the Application Form required and the Guidance notes are available to download from the GFA website. All applications should be returned direct to the Gloucestershire FA Office, not The FA in London, as the GFA are required to complete Section 2 of the form before it is then fully processed by the FA.

9 Referees Course

The Gloucestershire FA is planning to run courses for new referees that will begin on Wednesday, 5th September, 2007 at both the Oxstalls Campus and the Park Campus of the University of Gloucestershire. A further course will be run at the Park Campus from November 20th. The GFA is also looking into running a course specifically aimed at those persons who fulfil the duties of club referee, as and when required, but who have no particular desire to take a full referee's course.

For further details, please apply directly to the GFA's Referee Development Officer, Richard Melinn either by post, telephone or email to Richard.Melinn@ Gloucestershirefa.com

10 General Secretary on Holiday

The General Secretary will be on holiday from August 8th to August 22nd. During this time, the first point of contact should be Les Fisher, the League's Treasurer, or Gordon Cook, the League's Chairman.

Thanks,

Nick Oram
General Secretary,
Cheltenham Association Football League
