Cheltenham League Notice Board

  • 06/06/2007 - AGM Update & League Constitution 2007-08

The League's Annual General Meeting was held last night at the League's Headquarters at The Victory Club, Lypiatt Road, Cheltenham. and six new clubs were elected to membership of the League.

Following withdrawals both during the course of the season and after its conclusion, the League was able to bring each of its five divisions up to full strength, firstly with the election of Siddington, Apperley, Gloucester Elmleaze, St Marks, C & G and Tewkesbury Rovers as new clubs and then completing the new constitution by including new teams who were entered by existing clubs.

The election of Siddington straight into Division One was the first time that the champions of the Cirencester League had transferred between Leagues in accordance with the new pyramid of football arrangements put in place this time last year by the GFA. Of the other new clubs, Apperley and Gloucester Elmleaze joined from the Cheltenham Sunday League and the Gloucester Sunday League respectively and both were ceded straight into Division Three, along with the recently formed Senior side of St Marks Community Association Youth Football Club. The two other brand new clubs, Tewkesbury Rovers, who went into Division 4 and C & G, who will start life in Division 5, will b supplemented by the newly established reserve sides of FC Barometrics, Falcons and Tewkesbury Town, who will also take their places in Division 5 next season. Full details of the League's new constitution for next season can be found below.

A highlight of yesterday evenings meeting was the presentation, by the League's Patron, Mr Dennis Barrett, of a Badge of Office to its President, Mr John Crowther and it is anticipated that Mr Barrett will make a similar presentation to the League's Chairman, Mr Gordon Cook, at the Clubs meeting in September. In the only change to the League's body of officers, Phil Tustain replaces Terry Onions as the League's Registration Secretary.
