Cheltenham League Notice Board

  • 03/05/2007 - April Newsletter

1) Player Debts

Clubs are reminded that the League's CDP1 form should be used to record the details of all players who owe a club money at the end of the season. This form should then be submitted, during the period between the end of the season and the date that is 7 days prior to the advertised date for the League AGM, to the League Registration Secretary. This year, this means that forms can be submitted to Terry Onions between April 29th and May 30th. The League Registration Secretary will then compile a list of the details of all players so reported from every club in the Cheltenham League and this list will be distributed to all clubs at the Annual General Meeting on form CDP2.
Clubs are reminded that the League will then not accept the registration of any players on the CDP2 list for the following season until the club to whom the debt is owed has informed the League that the debt is discharged. This means that the player who owed money would not even be able to register for the club to whom the money was owed.
CDP1 forms have been distributed recently but should any club requires replacements for this form, or additional copies, and they are unable produce their own photocopies, they should apply to the League Secretary for extra forms

2. Cup Final Tickets

The League has received its allocation of Cup Final tickets for this season and those clubs who applied for tickets and who have been successful in their application will be notified shortly. Unfortunately, we have not received enough tickets to be able to meet everyone's needs. It is anticipated that the tickets will be delivered soon and that, once they are received, the administration of the distribution of the tickets will have to be completed quickly in advance of the date of the final, which this year is Saturday, May 19th.

3 County Minor Cup Final.

Tewkesbury Dynamos, from Division Four, met AFC Phoenix, from the Stroud League, in the final of the GFA County Minor Cup on Monday, 23rd April, 2007 and we are delighted to report that the Cheltenham League side returned home from Tuffley Rovers ground with the trophy. Hearty congratulations are therefore due to Tewkesbury Dynamos, whose 5-2 victory in the final represented only the second time this season that their opponents had suffered defeat

4 Senior Charity Cup Final

This season's Senior Charity Cup Final was played at Whaddon Road on Thursday, 26th April and resulted in a thrilling 4-2 win for Endsleigh over Hatherley Rangers in front of an attendance that was in excess of 300. Our gratitude is very much due both to Cheltenham Town, for once again allowing the League the use of their excellent and ever improving facilities and also, this season, the Chelsea Building Society for very graciously sponsoring this year's Final. Thanks are also owed to Jamie Victory, the Cheltenham Town star, for spending his evening with us and making the presentations at the end of the match, as they are to all those Cheltenham Town employees who gave their services for nothing to help make the evening a really special occasion.

5 Junior Charity Cup Final

The final of the Junior Charity Cup was played on Friday, 20th April, 2007 and was won by Whaddon United, who beat Broadway United 4-1. Once again, there was an excellent attendance at this match and the thanks of the League are extended to Bishops Cleeve Football Club for generously allowing the League the use of their Kayte Lane ground.

6 Minor Charity Cup Final

Sherborne Harriers won an enthralling Minor Charity Cup Final at Cheltenham Saracen's Petersfield Stadium on Tuesday, 25th April by beating Finlay Rovers Reserves 1-0. The League would like to thank Cheltenham Saracens for their generosity in staging this match and also everyone in the very healthy attendance for their contributions to the League's charitable causes.

7 Supplementary Information Forms

All clubs should now have received their supplementary information forms for Season 2007-2008. It should please be noted that all clubs should return these forms to the League's General Secretary by June 1st at the latest to avoid the imposition of a fine.
