Cheltenham League Notice Board
Endsleigh claimed a thrilling 4-2 victory over Hatherley Rangers in the Cheltenham League Senior Charity Cup Final at Whaddon Road on Thursday evening to lift the cup for the very first time. In a first half full of good football, Hatherley Rangers took the lead in the 24th minute through Marcus Davitt and then doubled their advantage 10 minutes later when Mark Johns headed home from close range. Darren Crocker reduced the arrears minutes before the break, however, with an outstanding goal from a short corner, which saw him beat two defenders with a single turn and then fire home just inside the far post. Endsleigh drew level with their own headed goal from a corner, courtesy
of Dave Alcock in the 53rd minute, but the game seemed to be heading for
extra time when, with 10 minutes left, Darren Fletcher gave Endsleigh
a priceless lead. Darren Crocker sealed the win with his second, and Endsleigh's
4th, 5 minutes later. Endsleigh have now won all three of the League's Charity Cup Competitions and can add their latest success to triumphs in the Junior and Minor Competitions that were accomplished in the mid 1980's |
