• 21/04/2007 - Whaddon United Triumph in Junior Charity Cup

Whaddon United secured the Cheltenham League Junior Charity Cup last night when they beat Broadway United 4-1 in the final at Kayte Lane, the home of Bishops' Cleeve FC.

After an even first half, which saw the teams go in at the break locked at 1-1 thanks to goals from Gary Sharp for Whaddon United and Mark Thomas for Broadway United, Whaddon scored three more times following the resumption, thanks to Timmy Wiggett and a brace from their Man of the Match, Pat McCormack.

The game, which was played on a lovely spring evening, was a credit to the Cheltenham League and excellent entertainment for the crowd of 145 who not only witnessed proceedings but who also contributed a significant sum to the League's Charity funds through the gate.
