1) LINC Charity Gala Dinner with Sir Geoff Hurst

The Cheltenham Association Football League is very pleased to be able to offer its support to The Leukaemia and Intensive Chemotherapy Fund (LINC), who are organising a dinner at the Thistle Hotel in Cheltenham at which Sir Geoff Hurst will be in attendance as a guest and after dinner speaker .
LINC raises funds to help support people receiving treatment for Leukaemia, Lymphoma and other blood cancers and we would encourage everyone connected with the Cheltenham League, who feels able, to support this very worthwhile cause.
Tickets for the evening, which will be supporting such a very worthwhile cause and will be held on Friday, April 27th, 2007, are £40. For further information, please contact Sue Ellis, of LINC, in the first instance. Sue can be reached on 08454 224422 or Sue.Ellis@glos.nhs.uk.

2) Evening Kick Offs

The time of year for late season evening matches is, once again, almost upon us and all clubs are referred to the final paragraph of league rule 10(b), which can be found on Page 25 of the Handbook, for guidance with regard to kick off times. In essence, all games in April should kick off not later than 6.15 pm except for those which are scheduled to be played during the week commencing Monday, April 23rd, when kick off time should be no later than 6.30 pm.

In addition, the League would seek to draw the attention of all clubs to the wording of the third paragraph of page 25 of the handbook, again within rule 10(b), which deals with the duration of matches. Please note that, if a game is to last less than 90 minutes, this must be agreed before the start by both captains in conjunction with the referee and that the game must consist of two equal halves. In accordance with the stipulations of rule 10(b), the shortest time that can be set for a match is 60 minutes - ie 30 minutes each way.

3) Entry Forms

Any club which is in receipt of this newsletter and which has not returned the League Entry and Declaration forms to the League will now be fined £25, in accordance with League Rule 14(a) unless the forms are in the possession of the General Secretary by Saturday, 31st March. All clubs that have not returned the two forms by this date will have 7 further days to send the forms to the League's General Secretary. Any club that has still not returned the forms by April 7th will be charged with failing to satisfactorily attend to the business of the League, as stipulated by League

Rule 5(h). Any fine imposed in accordance with this rule will be in addition to the original £25 and will be set at an amount that will be at the discretion of the League Management Committee

Those clubs that have returned the forms will receive their Supplementary Information forms in the near future. These forms will have to be completed and returned by June 1st, 2007.

4) County Cup Finals

The Cheltenham League has only one representative in a County Cup Final this year and Tewkesbury Dynamos are to be congratulated for their achievement in reaching the Minor Cup Final where they will play AFC Phoenix on a date and at a venue that is still to be confirmed. The best wishes of the whole of the League go with our sole County Cup survivors.

5) Senior Charity Cup Final

The second Semi Finals of the Senior Charity Cup was played last week under floodlights at St Petersfield, the home of Cheltenham Saracens and Endsleigh booked their place in the final with a 2-0 win over Finlay Rovers. The date and time of the final between Endsleigh and Hatherley Rangers has been fixed for Thursday, April 26th, 2006 with a 6.30 pm kick off and it will be played at Whaddon Road, the home of Cheltenham Town.

6) Junior & Minor Charity Cups

The Semi Final's of the Junior and Minor Charity Cups will be played next week, on Tuesday 10th and Thursday 12th April. On Tuesday, 10th April, Broadway United will take on Tivoli Rovers in the Junior Cup, whilst FC Electrics Reserves will meet Sherborne Harriers in the Minor Cup. Two days later, Whaddon United and Charlton Kings clash in the Junior Cup, at the same time as Finlay Rovers and Northleach Town Reserves meet at Cheltenham Civil Service.
For the first time all of these games will be played at The Newlands, the former Smiths Sports & Social Club and, in keeping with the practice established last year, there will be no charge for admission at these games, although a collection will be made on each of the evenings. All proceeds from these collections will go to charity so, if you are able to attend, please give generously to help the League help some really worthy causes.
The dates of the Finals of these competitions have also now been set. The Junior Cup Final will be played at Bishops Cleeve FC's Kayte Lane ground on Friday, April 20th with a 7.00 pm kick off.
