Saturday, 21st October has been designated "Kick Racism Out of Football" Day as the Cheltenham League lends its support to the "Kick It Out" campaign's week of action in its fight to eradicate racism and racial abuse from football.

To read more about the campaign, its aims and its aspirations for its week of action 2006, please click on the logo above or go direct to http://www.kickitout.org/index.php?id=158. This will take you to the campaign's own web site, which carries details of all the events planned for the week and also the successes that "Kick It Out" has had over the years in attempting to ensure a level playing field for everybody who wants to become involved in football.

As part of the Cheltenham League's efforts, every club will receive a letter, which it will be asked to pass on to its match day referee on Saturday. In this letter, all referees are being asked to contact the League's General Secretary, Nick Oram, by telephone as soon as possible after the match to report anything of a racist nature that might have happened during the course of the afternoon. All clubs are also being asked to be extra vigilant and are also being urged to contact the League's General Secretary immediately if they feel that they have anything at all to report that is of a racist nature and is connected to the Cheltenham League match that they have been involved in.

The League then intends to fast track its investigations into all matters that have been reported and deal with them at the meeting of the Management Committee which will be held on Wednesday, 25th October. All clubs will be put on notice, this week, that they are required to attend this meeting. The need to attend the meeting will be confirmed with all those clubs whose players, officials or supporters are reported for racial abuse over the course of the coming weekend. Only clubs that do not have the need to attend confirmed to them, by telephone on Monday, 23rd October, will be exempt from attending the meeting. The League will then put the charges to the representatives of the club or clubs concerned and, if these charges are proven, will deal severely with any club or individual found to be responsible.

The Officers of the Cheltenham League earnestly believe that Racism and racist abuse is not a significant problem in the Cheltenham League and they are determined that it will remain this way. If you hear, see or experience any racism or racialist abuse at any time, please report it to the League. On Saturday, 21st October, please do this as soon as possible to the General Secretary, on 07881 525357
