AC Olympia 5 Victoria Celtic 2

After losing last season's County Cup Final, AC Olympia got off to a dream start this time around with two goals in the first 11 minutes. Olympia were 1-0 up in the 8th minute when Dan Parry pounced on a poor clearance and drove the ball home from just inside the box. Within 3 minutes they were 2 goals to the good when Sam Yiend went on an impressive run down the right and cut the ball back for Ian Lewis to slot home from close range. Victoria pushed forward looking for a way back into the match and struck the bar in the 18th minute before Olympia made it 3-0 in the 25th minute. Lewis was again the scorer, when a mis-hit shot from Richard Maguire fell to him 12 yards out and he slid the ball passed the Victoria keeper. A moment of madness let Victoria back into the game in the 32nd minute when Olympia keeper Martin Bailey brought down a Victoria Celtic player in the box, and they scored from the resulting penalty.

The second started off very slowly, with neither team really taking control of the match. Olympia had a chance to seal the win in the 65th minute when Sam Yiend went on another mazy run but he was unlucky to see his shot come back of the post after it had beaten the keeper. Victoria Celtic pulled a goal back in the 80th minute which ignited a frantic final 10 minutes. In the 82nd minute Victoria nearly equalized, when they broke through the Olympia back line, but Bailey pulled off a stunning reaction save and pushed the shot on to the bar. Olympia made it 4-2 in the 85th minute when Sam Yiend picked the ball up in his own half, rode two tackled, and coolly slotted the ball passed the advancing Victoria keeper. Olympia sealed the win in the 89th minute, when a Rich Maguire shot rebounded off the post to Ryan Baker, who scored from a seemingly impossible angle.
