  • 10/01/2006 - Latest Newsletter To Clubs

It is the purpose of this Newsletter to communicate items of interest to Clubs and, in particular, their Secretaries, that were not necessarily discussed at the monthly Management Committee meetings. If anyone has anything that they would like to include on this newsletter, which will be circulated to all clubs and which will also be posted on the Leagues Web site, they are advised to contact the League's General Secretary by the Monday that immediately precedes the monthly Management Committee meeting, at the latest

2) Extraordinary General Meeting - January 25th 2006

It was decided at the Management Committee meeting that was held on Wednesday, January 4th, 2006, that an Extraordinary General Meeting of the League shall be held on Wednesday, 25th January, 2006. This meeting will be held at the League's Headquarters, The New Victory Club, in Lypiatt Road, Cheltenham. Details of the business to be conducted at this meeting will be sent out in due course but all clubs should note that, in accordance with League Rule 19, each member club is obligated to attend this meeting. Each club is empowered to send two delegates and will be entitled to one vote at the meeting.

3) Clubs Meeting in January

The next Cheltenham League Club's meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, January 25th, 2006 and will be held at the Victory Club after the EGM mentioned above. The purpose in holding these meetings is to ensure that, at least twice during the course of the season, there is an opportunity for the clubs to meet up with the officers of the league and discuss matters that are of concern, both to the League and to the clubs themselves. Attendance at these meetings is optional but is strongly recommended. Minutes will be produced from this meeting and circulated to all clubs but receiving the information imparted at these meetings in this way does not adequately substitute for being there and, naturally, does not afford the opportunity to ask questions.
In addition, this meeting will also see the distribution of League Membership forms for Season 2006-2007 and it would also seem to present the ideal opportunity to return League Trophies - please see below!!
Will any person or club who has an item for inclusion on the agenda for this meeting please forward it to the League Secretary by Wednesday, 11th January 2006 at the latest.

3 League Trophies

Please note that the date prescribed by League Rule 18(b) by which all trophies, which were won last season, must be returned to the League, is January 31st. This is 6 days after the EGM and Clubs meeting, which are to be held on January 25th, but as the fine for a failure to return a trophy is £15, January 25th would seem to present an ideal opportunity to make sure that all trophies are back in the hands of the League

4 Referees Cards

In response to the difficulties that have been experienced this season with the latest version of League Rule 13(J), which controls the administration of Official Referee's Result Cards, the League is undertaking a thorough review of the requirements of the rule. It is anticipated that this review will result in a newly revised form of the rule, which will be presented to the AGM in June.

In the meantime, the early recommendations of the review have proposed that the League should provide envelopes for each club, with the address of the League Results Secretary pre-printed on the front and a reminder on the back relating to the correct contents of the envelope.

5 League History

The first edition of what will be, it is hoped, a regular monthly publication is being prepared by the League's historian and it is anticipated that it will be available to all clubs at the Clubs meeting on January 25th. As yet, this publication does not have a name and the League is proposing to run a competition to unearth one that is suitable. All suggestions should be sent through to the League Historian, Linda Wilson, on her dedicated email address, Footballhistorian @hotmail.com, along with any other contributions that clubs or individuals might feel that they would like to make.

6 Handbook Changes

Bishops Cleeve's Secretary has a new mobile telephone number. This is 07719 991134.

PLEASE NOTE THAT CHARITY CUP GAMES ON SATURDAY, JANUARY 28th KICK OFF AT 1.45 PM
KICK-OFF TIMES FOR LEAGUE GAMES REMAIN AT 2.00 PM FOR THE WHOLE OF JANUARY
