Cheltenham League Notice Board
Following the recent publication of an article in the Gloucestershire Echo, which suggested that one of the clubs in the League did not have sufficient Public Liability Insurance to play at a particular venue to the north of the town, the League would like to issue certain reassurances to its clubs. For those clubs who are not already aware of the fact, we would like to point out that the payment of a Public Liability Insurance Premium of £23 is mandatory on the GFA "A" form, which each club would have been required to complete and submit in order to affiliate to the Gloucestershire Football Association. If your club had not affiliated, it would not be able to compete in the Cheltenham League. We received confirmation, from the GFA, before the start of the season that all our member clubs had affiliated, so all the clubs must have paid the £23 Public Liability Premium, otherwise affiliation would have been denied. As this is the case, this means that every club in membership of the Cheltenham Association Football League has, by virtue of the payment of this £23 premium, become members of the GFA's group Public Liability Insurance. This, in turn, means that each club enjoys £5,000,000 (£5 million) pounds worth of Public Liability Cover. This is the maximum cover requested by all Council owned venues used by the clubs within the Cheltenham League. Hopefully, this will serve to allay any fears that may have been raised by the article in the newspaper. If any club has any further questions, they should refer them to the GFA in the first instance. |
