Cheltenham League Notice Board

  • 30/05/2005 - May Newsletter

It is the purpose of this Newsletter to communicate items of interest to Clubs and, in particular, their Secretaries, that were not necessarily discussed at the monthly Management Committee meetings. If anyone has anything that they would like to include on this newsletter, which will be circulated to all clubs and which will also be posted on the Leagues Web site, they are advised to contact the League's General Secretary by the Monday that immediately precedes the monthly Management Committee meeting, at the latest

1) Player Debts

Clubs are reminded that the League's CDP1 form should be returned to the League Registration Secretary, Mr Terry Onions, by next Wednesday, June 1st, if they intend to report any players who may owe them money. All persons thus reported will then be included on the CDP 2 form that will be circulated to all clubs at the Annual General Meeting, detailing all players whose registration will not be accepted by the League for next season until the debt has been discharged

2. Annual General Meeting

The League's Annual General Meeting will be held at the Victory Club on Wednesday, June 8th. It is a requirement of League Rules that all clubs have at least one representative in attendance at the meeting throughout. It is also important for all clubs to be at the meeting as GFA Affiliation Forms, as well as League Registration Books, triplicated team sheets and various other administrative necessities for the forthcoming season will be distributed as delegates arrive.

3 End of Season Roll of Honour.

The 2004-2005 season is now complete and the winners of all eight of the League's trophies are now known. Pride of place goes to Gala Wilton who, two years after being relegated from the top flight of our League and a year after regaining their place at the first time of asking, held off the challenge of Hatherley Rangers in the most exciting finish for many years to become Champions for the first time. They now take their place in the Northern Senior League and we wish them well in their new venture.
Meanwhile, the other League honours were taken by Bishops Cleeve III's in Division Two, Gala Wilton Reserves in Division Three, Tewkesbury YMCA in Division Four and Tewkesbury Dynamos in Division Five. Bishops Cleeve III's will, therefore, become the first ever third team to compete in the top division of the Cheltenham League next season whilst Gala Wilton's second string made it an excellent campaign all round for the club from North West Gloucester. Congratulations to all the Divisional Winners.

Meanwhile, in the cups, Hatherley will gain some compensation for missing out on their league aspirations from their exciting 2-1 extra time win over Winchcombe at Whaddon Road in the Senior Charity Cup Final. Naunton Park needed penalties to finally overcome St Marks in the Junior Competition and AC olympia finally gained some reward from a season that promised so much when they claimed the Minor Cup following a win over Elmbridge Old Boys in a replay.

4 Supplementary Information Forms

All supplementary information forms must be returned to the League's General Secretary by next Wednesday, June 1st. These forms cannot be submitted at the AGM without your club incurring a fine. Please make sure that they are returned to the General Secretary as soon as possible.

DON'T FORGET THE AGM - WEDNESDAY, 8TH JUNE, 7-15 PM AT THE VICTORY CLUB

Thanks,

Nick Oram
General Secretary,
Cheltenham Association Football League
