Cheltenham League Notice Board

  • 29/04/2005 - April Newsletter

It is the purpose of this Newsletter to communicate items of interest to Clubs and, in particular, their Secretaries, that were not necessarily discussed at the monthly Management Committee meetings. If anyone has anything that they would like to include on this newsletter, which will be circulated to all clubs and which will also be posted on the Leagues Web site, they are advised to contact the League's General Secretary by the Monday that immediately precedes the monthly Management Committee meeting, at the latest

1) Player Debts

Clubs are reminded that the League's CDP1 form should be used to record the details of all players who owe a club money at the end of the season. This form should then be submitted, during the period between the end of the season and the date that is 7 days prior to the advertised date for the League AGM, to the League Registration Secretary. This year, this means that forms can be submitted to Terry Onions between May 5th and June 1st. The League Registration Secretary will then compile a list of the details of all players so reported from every club in the Cheltenham League and this list will be distributed to all clubs at the Annual General Meeting on form CDP2.
Clubs are reminded that the League will then not accept the registration of any players on the CDP2 list for the following season until the club to whom the debt is owed has informed the League that the debt is discharged. This means that the player who owed money would not even be able to register for the club to whom the money was owed.
CDP1 forms were distributed to all clubs at, and immediately after, the Clubs Meeting in January. If any club requires replacements for this form, or additional forms, and they are unable produce their own photocopies, they should apply to the League Secretary for additional forms

2. Cup Final Tickets

The League is still awaiting details of its allocation of Cup Final Tickets and it is likely that, when this is received, the red tape that is always associated with the distribution of the tickets will have to be completed quickly. In anticipation of the likelihood that the League will not be able to service all clubs that requested tickets, a ballot will be held and those clubs that are successful will be notified immediately.

3 County Cup Finals.

All the County Cup Finals that involved Cheltenham League Clubs have now been played. In the two all

Cheltenham League matches, Woodmancote beat High Tech Rangers by 2-0 at Slimbridge on April 7th and Moreton Rangers beat St Marks Reserves 4-1, after extra time, at Tetbury on April 25th. AC Olympia were unfortunately defeated in the final of the Primary Cup, going down 2-0 to Worral Hill, from the North Gloucestershire League, on April 14th but Gala Wilton made it three out of four when they got the better of Stroud League Championship contenders, Longlevens Reserves, 4-2 at Tuffley on April 26th

So, its well done to Gala Wilton, Moreton Rangers and Woodmancote, commiserations to St Marks, High Tech Rangers and AC Olympia but congratulations to all the sides for their achievements in making this an exceptional year for the Cheltenham League in the County Cup competitions

4 Senior Charity Cup Final

The Senior Charity Cup Final was played at Whaddon Road on Thursday, 21st April and enthralled a large crowd for 120 minutes as it provided a superb endorsement for Cheltenham League football. In the end, Hatherley Rangers prevailed, taking the cup for the first time after they beat Winchcombe Town 2-1 in extra time but everyone had a thoroughly enjoyable evening that was capped off by the mildness of the weather. That the match itself was such a spectacle was due in no small part to the enduring excellence of the Whaddon Road pitch, which has, once again, won major and prestigious awards this season. Thanks, then, are very much due to Cheltenham Town for allowing the League the use of the facilities once more and for promoting an occasion which saw in excess of £600 raised for Charity in the space of just one evening.

5 Supplementary Information Forms

All clubs should now have received their supplementary information forms for Season 2005-2006. These forms have been remodelled this year and any comments on possible further alterations or improvements are most welcome. Any clubs who have not received a form should contact the General Secretary immediately. All clubs should please not e that these forms must be returned to the League's General Secretary by June 1st at the latest to avoid the imposition of a fine.

Thanks,

Nick Oram
General Secretary,
Cheltenham Association Football League
