Cheltenham League Notice Board

  • 12/04/2005 - Cup Update

It has been a busy time in cup competitions over the last week but, even so, pride of place must go to Woodmancote, who claimed the County Primary Cup at Slimbridge on Thursday 7th April with a 2-0 win over fellow Cheltenham League Division Four side Hi Tec Rangers. Congratulations to Woodmancote and well done, as well, to their opponents who did both themselves and the League proud by progressing so far.

On the Charity Cup front, Elmbridge Old Boys reached the final of the Minor Competition by beating Gas Green Reserves 3-0 at the Gala Club and Naunton Park, of Division Three, secured their place in the final of the Junior Competition with a 3-1 win over Falcons, from Division Four, at Newlands Park.

Tonight, the line-up for the Senior Final will be completed as Hatherley Rangers take on Bishops Cleeve III at St Peter's Field, home of Cheltenham Saracens. The game, which will be played under floodlights, will kick off at 7.30 pm and the winners will join Winchcombe Town in the final, which will be played at Whaddon Road on Thursday, April 21st with a 6.30 pm start. The second Junior Cup Semi Final, between St Marks III and Tewkesbury YMCA Reserves, at Cheltenham Civil Service has been put back a day because of a County Rugby Quarter Final and will now be played on Thursday April 14th. The last Semi Final, in the Minor Cup, between AC Olympia and Winchcombe Town Reserves, has been moved again and will now be played at Bredon on Tuesday, April 19th.

The final of the Junior Charity Cup will be played at Kayte Lane, home of Bishops Cleeve, on Friday, 29th April, and the final of the Minor Competition will be at St Peters Field on Tuesday, May 3rd. Both games will kick off at 7.30 pm
