Cheltenham League Notice Board
Winchcombe Town this evening booked their place in the Final of the Senior Charity Cup with a 4-2 win over Tewkesbury YMCA under the floodlights at Bishop's Cleeve's Kayte Lane ground. Goalless until the 25th minute, a penalty to Winchcombe sparked the game into life and, after the spot kick was converted, 4 more goals were scored before half time. Tewkesbury YMCA twice equalised to make the score 1-1 and 2-2 before Winchcombe had the last word in the first half to make the score 3-2 in their favour. The second half failed to produce the same number of goals but Winchcombe sealed their place in the final with a fourth ten minutes before the end. The Semi Finals continue tomorrow when Gas Green Reserves and Elmbridge meet in the Minor Cup at Gala Wilton. Falcons and Naunton Park complete this weeks line up with the first Junior Semi Final on Thusday at Smiths. The date of the Junior Cup Semi Final between St Marks III and Tewkesbury YMCA Reserves, originally scheduled for Wednesday, 13th April, has now been put back a day so that it can still be played at Cheltenham Civil Service, which is staging a Rugby Cup Semi Final the night before. |
